高麗韓國餐廳 (Hong Kong)

There is a great Korean BBQ restaurant in Happy Valley. We have been coming here since 20 years ago. Every time we come to this restaurant, we order the same thing, which is 牛肋骨起骨 (kalbi without bones). We have tried other dishes before, but none is as good as the kalbi without bones.

We placed four orders of the kalbi without bones, basically an order for each person. Like any typical Korean restaurants, they give us lots of small dishes as starters. Some of the dishes include potatoes, eggplants, steamed vegetables, kimchi, dried fish, and bean sprouts. Besides the side dishes, we are also served a clear and light soup that has pepper and winter melon. The highlight of the dinner is of course the kalbi without bones. The beef is cut into thin slices and marinated in a strong kalbi sauce which contains soy sauce, sesame oil, and sugar. We do the cooking ourselves by putting the beef onto the grill. The beef is pretty tender but it is not smooth enough. After eating the wagyu in Japan which is the ultimate premium grade, our standard is set very high. The wagyu in Japan is simply impossible to beat or be compared against. The Korean BBQ at 高麗 is still very satisfactory and we all left with full stomachs.
