新宿旭町の肉処 はなもんや (Tokyo)

After an early dinner at 明神下 神田川, we still have room in our stomachs. After resting in the hotel for a few hours, we went to a nearby Japanese BBQ restaurant in the Shinjuku area for a second dinner. This shows that we are hard core food lovers. We went to a very high class restaurant called 旭町の肉処 はなもんや. We were seated in a small private room. The place is extremely new and clean. The grill is pretty high tech with a temperature control right on the table.

Everything on the menu is expensive, so we only made two orders of 特選近江牛希少部位. Both of our orders are rare parts of Omi beef, which is a famous kind of Wagyu beef. When the orders came, we were surprised to see only four slices of beef in each order. The portion is even smaller than what you would expect for appetizers. We are glad that we have already eaten before coming to this restaurant, otherwise our stomachs would be empty all night. Although the portion is so small, there is no question about the quality of the rare parts of Omi beef which is of the maximum A5 grade. Omi beef has a strong beef taste, much stronger than Kobe Beef and Yonezawa Beef. The proportion of meat and fat is absolutely perfect. The beef is so soft and tender that it requires no effort to chew and goes down our throats easily.
